Graduated
wash starts the same as the wash described above but this time more water is
added to the mix each time we dip into the paint. Gradually the wash gets paler
and paler, until the wash is just clear water. This type of wash is used for
skies. If while the wash is still wet we can use a rolled up tissue, to lift out
some paint to make clouds effects.

Using
the above we could combine to graduated wash for skies.
Turn
your work upside down. From your horizon line paint a graduated wash in Raw
Sienna to the top of your work (remember it’s upside down).
Return
your work to its normal position and paint another graduated wash in French
Ultramarine. Lift out some cloud if you wish to and leave to dry.
