The following tree illustrations should be enough to develop a further painting while keeping in mind both distance and aerial perspective.

Oak Beech
We
painted the Oak using the following colours. New Gamboge, Paynes Grey, Lamp
Black.
First paint the leaves with a wash of New Gamboge. Then drop into this a mix of Payne’s Grey and the Gamboge while the initial wash is still wet. Drop in a mix of Black and Gamboge into the bottom of the Payne’s Grey mix. Leave to dry. In carrying out the above, remember to note where the light of the Sun is coming from and vary your drop in mixes accordingly. When dry, with a stiff brush stipple in a small amount of dots into the leaf area to give a little detail. The trunk and branches washed in with Payne’s grey with a little black added to the shadow areas
The
Beech Tree was painted using the above, except this time we used a touch of
Light Red and French Ultramarine to try to give a coppery effect to the leaves.
